It's disappointing when I look through some photography on DeviantArt and the vast majority are just gorgeous self-portraits. Yes, I do admit that they are pretty, but they seem to be more about acting than photography if you ask me. They have to act a certain way to get the same shot as the rest of their pictures, maybe photoshop it up a bit... or a lot... then BAM! Insta-art! I understand that using your self as a model is fairly easy (especially if your digital camera self-focuses for you), but you don't have to make over half of your work up here be all of yourself either naked or dolled up.

Sure, I have self-portraits on here, but 1) The only digital thing about them is that they are poorly documented by my lovely digital camera 2) They are not glamorous 3) They were for an assignment. When left up to my own devices I'd rather take candid pictures for art (or at least not glamor shots) and save the pretty self-portraits for myspace and facebook.

Does anyone else agree with me here?
